What are Mediation Services?

Mediation is a method of resolving and difference between an ex-partner and you. This takes place with a third person who helps and will not be taking sides. The third person is also known as a mediator. Mediators are there to help and ensure that you reach an agreement about the problems relating with children, property and money. Mediation is something that can be done before resulting in seeing a solicitor.

  • Mediation is confidential.
  • A method for you and your ex-partner to overcome disputes yourself, for example, without a solicitor.
  • When an agreement has been made between the two parties within mediation it is put in writing and signed.
  • A court order can also be made to reflect on what has been agreed in the mediation, and for the parties to make an agreement; also known as a ‘consent order’.
