5 Ways to prevent Employee Burnout during Covid19

CHANGE and uncertainty have been a big challenge since the start of the pandemic. The way we were used to living and working suddenly changed overnight. Everything became different from the earlier lifestyle and professional culture. Employees have been facing difficulties and an atmosphere of frustration and burnout has been the result of this in many cases.

To prevent this burnout, we can implement some of the points which are listed below.

Monotonous Work Environment

Employees nowadays are also facing burnout or trouble because they are working, sleeping, and doing all kinds of activities in the same environment, that is working from home. This creates monotony as we are used to performing different activities at different places and meeting people on daily basis. Like we perform office work from the office, not from home.

Also, staying with the same people 24/7 creates unwanted fights and arguments which consciously or subconsciously affect our productivity and mood. So, employees need to create a proper workstation while working from home. Better to say a defined territory of work at home.

Dressing in Proper Attire

Yes, it's equally important, now I know that being in your pyjamas is very convenient but it also determines the mood of employees. You cannot feel a proper vibe in this kind of outfit. It can affect the performance energy of an employee and they can feel lethargic during their working time. So, to overcome this they need to dress up properly and be more energetic throughout the day.

Taking Care of the Mental Health of an Employee

During this pandemic ensuring the mental health of employees became an important aspect for employers. Working with a peaceful mind result in better productivity in their work. Hence, from time-to-time group calls should be organized among the team member once or twice a week to make the employee feel connected.

It’s an important role of employers or leaders to take frequent updates about the mental engagement of their team.

Focusing More Towards the Goal

Planning and focusing on goals can divert the mind of employees working remotely. Starting with small steps and approaching the goal can give a kind of engagement and mental and moral satisfaction to them. Stay updated and resolve the challenges by educating yourself for growth. This situation of COVID can be a blessing in disguise.

Break During Working Hours

Exhausting yourself during work is not a great idea rather it will lead to mental pressure and affect the productive working of an employee. So, a time-to-time break is needed to relax the mind and it can work as energy restoring for them. During this break, it's advisable not to use any kind of digital gadgets which can further strain their eyes. This break is necessary for relaxing employee’s minds.

Apart from all the above points, it's also advisable to keep yourself physically fit with proper diet and exercise. Avoiding overthinking and negative thoughts can help employees to overcome their burnout. Meditating and listening to good soft music can relax their mind to work more. Changing the mindset from negative to positive is the best outcome for mental peace. Positive interaction can change the scenario to an extent. “Give time some time” things will improve is the mantra for every individual to prevent them from burnout.
